Amidst the hum of jet engines and the rumble of rolling suitcases, a new dynamic duo is quietly stepping up operations behind the scenes at Vienna Airport. Two brand-new STUMMER MEDIUM X4s have joined the lineup—bringing cutting-edge waste logistics straight to the runway. With advanced technology, smart energy management, and impressive payload capacity, these vehicles show how efficient and sustainable waste collection can be—even in high-intensity, 24/7 environments like an international airport

Built on the trusted Mercedes-Benz Econic 6×2 chassis, the trucks feature a trailing axle and a compact wheelbase (12.8 + 4.4 feet), perfectly suited for narrow lanes and the tough demands of airport operations.

The latest STUMMER MEDIUM X4 body is equipped with a beam lifter compatible with container sizes from 60 to 1100 liters (in line with EN standards) and a spacious 22 m³ collection box. Thanks to an integrated compaction system delivering a 1:5 ratio, the vehicles are ideal for efficient residual waste collection.

Smarter Collection, Higher Capacity

A standout feature: a newly developed payload optimization system that allows recyclables—like cardboard, paper, and plastic—to be compacted more efficiently. The result? Up to 25% more payload capacity, all while reducing working pressure from 230 bar (3300 psi) to just 130 bar (1900 psi). That translates into lower energy consumption, reduced fuel use, and a smaller environmental footprint—without compromising performance.
