Since last autumn, we have been keeping you up to date on progress at our construction site. From the ground-breaking ceremony to the finishing touches in July, our new assembly hall has taken shape step by step at our Bischofshofen site. After the summer break, the time has finally come: Hall 5 will go into operation in mid-August.

With the new hall, STUMMER is not simply expanding its production floor space. It is creating modern workplaces tailored both to the demands of today’s municipal vehicles and to the people who build them day after day. At up to six assembly bays, ten to twelve employees will work simultaneously to transform brand-new chassis into bespoke STUMMER municipal vehicles.

The centrepiece of the new hall is a 10-tonne overhead travelling crane. It lifts the multi-tonne bodies precisely onto the prepared chassis, marking the starting point for the rest of the assembly process. From there, the work continues through numerous stages: electrical and hydraulic systems are installed; steel components are welded, ground and bolted; components are fitted; systems are calibrated; and the first functional checks and test runs are carried out.

Each assembly bay is equipped with its own workbench, tool trolley and modern cordless and pneumatic tools. The hall also features a high-performance technical infrastructure, including a plasma cutting system, welding equipment, lifting beam, pillar drill, compressed-air supply and a clearly organised C-parts storage area. This ensures that every tool and material is available exactly where it is needed.

Careful thought has also gone into the working environment. Acoustic ceiling baffles and wall panels create pleasant acoustics. Heating and cooling are provided emission-free by an air-source heat pump combined with a thermally activated floor slab. This creates a comfortable working climate all year round and ideal conditions for focused work.

Around the hall, STUMMER is consistently continuing along the path it has set. The photovoltaic system has been expanded and supplemented by a battery storage system. Spacious parking areas provide room for new chassis and fully built vehicles, a weighbridge facilitates type approval, and additional charging points for electric trucks are available directly beside the hall.

In short, Hall 5 creates room for further growth, even more efficient processes and excellent working conditions – and will become the birthplace of many new STUMMER vehicles that will soon be operating across Europe.

Only one question remains unresolved in the new hall: which radio station to listen to. At STUMMER, that is decided democratically – like almost everything else. Or at least that is what the side that has just won the vote claims.
